  • Beware the Tribeca Center in Pittston

The Association of Fundraising Professionals held a luncheon at the former Victoria Inn in Pittston, now renamed the Tribeca Lounge in September. Take a look at their website at http://www.banquetsattribeca.com.  Their venue is about as well maintained!  We won’t be going there again.  We’ll also be moving our 250+ person Philanthropy Day event from there to protect the reputation of our organization from being tarnished by a poor-to-bad venue.

One attendee’s accounting of the experience:

I was surprised that a facility trying to make a “comeback” was presented so poorly!  The roadway is poorly marked and poorly maintained, the grounds are overgrown with weeds, the interior is the same.

It took extensive time to find a staff member in the building who could assist us.  We were greeted by our rep’s 5-year old running around taking us room to room telling us, “Hold on my mommy is somewhere…”

The presentation in the dining room was slapdash –everything was placed in the middle of the table, not preset — the food was overcooked.  My chicken was so dried out, I could barely cut it with the knife.

They forgot to serve the dessert!

    1. I must disagree with this comment. I was just at an event there on Wednesday for a democratic party. I have been there in the past for these events. The interior has been redone since my last visit and it is beautiful. The food was wonderful and the staff was excellent. I enjoyed it so much that I booked my upcoming wedding.
